A year ago, Ely Work Collective was just an idea.
We knew there had to be a better way for people to work locally. Somewhere that wasn’t just another office, but a place where freelancers, remote workers, small businesses and growing teams could genuinely feel part of something.
Three months ago, after months of planning, renovating, problem-solving and more late nights than we can count, it all became a reality as we finally opened our doors.
Looking back now, it’s incredible to see just how far we’ve come in such a relatively short time.
More Than Just Desks
From day one, our vision was always to be more than just desks and Wi-Fi.
We wanted to create a place where people enjoy coming to work, and a place where we could support our community as much as possible.
A place where ideas are shared over coffee, where introductions turn into collaborations, where business owners have people around them who genuinely understand the challenges they’re facing.
Running a business can often feel lonely, and we wanted to change that.
Supporting Businesses at Every Stage
One of the biggest reasons we created Ely Work Collective was to support people at the very beginning of their business journey.
Starting a business can be overwhelming. Sometimes all you need is someone to bounce an idea off, a bit of encouragement, or a room full of people who have already faced the same challenges, or even people facing the same difficulties and problems.
That’s why we’re building much more than a workspace.
Alongside flexible coworking and meeting rooms, we’re developing workshops, networking events and mastermind sessions that bring together local expertise and create opportunities for people to learn, ask questions and grow together.
Whether you’re launching your first business, scaling an existing one or simply looking for a professional environment that inspires you, we want Ely Work Collective to be somewhere that helps you move forward.
Building a Community
The biggest surprise over the past three months hasn’t been the bookings or memberships; it’s been the people.
We’ve watched strangers become collaborators, businesses have started working together, members now regularly chat over coffee, recommend each other’s services and celebrate each other’s wins.
That sense of community is exactly what we hoped to create, and seeing it happen naturally has been incredibly rewarding.
Every Month Is Better Than the Last
As a new business, every milestone feels significant. No matter how big or small the win, it all counts.
We’ve welcomed more members than we expected this early on, our meeting rooms are busier every month, and we’re seeing more local businesses choose Ely Work Collective as their base.
We’re also proud to be growing alongside our members. Every new booking, every event and every introduction helps strengthen the community we’re building together.
While there’s still plenty of hard work ahead, it’s exciting to see the momentum building.
This Is Only The Beginning
We’re often asked what’s next, and the honest answer is… lots. More workshops, more networking, more opportunities for local businesses to connect, more podcast episodes celebrating the amazing people doing brilliant things across our region, and most importantly, more reasons for people to walk through our doors feeling like they’ve found somewhere they belong.
To everyone who has booked a desk, hired a meeting room, joined as a member, attended an event, appeared on our podcast or simply told someone else about Ely Work Collective – thank you.
You’ve helped turn an idea into a thriving community, and we can’t wait to see what the next year brings.
If you haven’t visited us yet, we’d love to show you around. Whether you need a productive place to work for the day, a meeting room for your team, or you’re looking to become part of a supportive business community, the kettle’s always on.
Here’s to the next chapter.
